The Story Behind Our Positive Packaging Design.

Bright, hand crafted and bursting with positivity, our packaging is based on the therapeutic benefits of Origami. In some cultures, Origami is used as a way to send blessings to people. Our posii pods are sent with the intention to positively impact the receiver’s life. Here we talk to Designer Jenny Kan about the process that the design team undertook when designing and creating posii packaging.

THE BRIEF & INSPIRATION

Jenny Kan: “The packaging needed to reflect Posii’s values and showcase the bright and beautiful colours, while also containing relevant brand information and providing effective protection for the product in transit. A traditional jewel like Origami shape was used as the foundation for the packaging design, with the final product capturing the brand's theme of “Meaningful Jewellery” perfectly. Every detail was hand crafted. The humble act of engaging with paper, the feeling of textures and creases and the visual result that emerges, was all designed to elevate the discovery moment and create a mindful experience. We employed sophisticated paper engineering and storytelling to captivate the user, all married with Posii’s sophisticated yet playful personality and language”.

Sending Origami with a positive intention and mindfulness were both central concepts in the packaging inspiration. We wanted to elevate the discovery moment by employing sophisticated Origimi techniques to allow the user time to experience a moment in full.

The lotus flower emerges from murky waters perfectly clean and beautiful, and is most emblematic of the faith within ourselves. The meaning of the lotus flower holds such power because it can offer hope and strength to people struggling in their daily lives.

The diamond shape was used as inspiration as a symbol of light and brilliance; treasures, riches, and intellectual knowledge. Above all it needed to reflect and represents what Posii is about - and capture jewellery being at the very heart of the brand.

THE ENVIRONMENT - ECO FACTOR

It was important for us to create a design solution that was both multi-functional and minimised waste. We wanted our packaging to be environmentally friendly and made here in Melbourne using 100% ethically sourced and recyclable stock. The pod is designed to display the description of the jewellery, while the sleeve on the box was designed to include key broader brand messaging. The sleeves were made to match the colour of each character strength and encouraged people to minimise excess gift wrapping. This means that people can purchase their gift online and have it delivered straight to the recipient without requiring any further gift wrapping. The iconic posii gift wrap adds the finishing touch to create an exceptional gift experience.
